THE SCHOLARSHIP

Support

The transition of studying in Kathmandu is often a challenging and strange experience for students who have come from rural backgrounds. With a member of staff actively devoted as a communication point, we provide a solid and secure support system for our students.

 

Training

We host several training days throughout the year. We mentor the students in developing key leadership and critical thinking skills. This also provides the students with the opportunity to meet the other scholars in their cohort, who become vital friends and acquaintances in Kathmandu to share the experience with.

 

Community

Upon completing their studies, we ask our Scholarship students to return to their home communities for three months and to volunteer their time and skills. Nurturing such skills has a trickle-down effect on the social and economic situation in rural Nepal, particularly when educated young professionals return to their communities. They unconsciously become role models for the future generation, inspiring these skills and the possibility of this future in others.

 

APPLICATION PROCESS

Form Distribtuion & Collection

We distribute the application forms among various schools as soon as the SEE results are released. Last year, around 162 students from 36 schools applied for the scholarship.

 

Essay Review

in the application form, the students are required to submit three essays. The selection team review these essays and choose the students who are successful in moving forward.

 

Interview

Those who are shortlisted are invited for an interview. The interview team look for students with a passion for further study in their chosen subject, as well as natural confidence.

 

Final Result

The final decision was influenced by the interview stage and other factors, such as the student's background.

 

Scholarship Award Ceremony

The selected scholars are invited to a formal programme to celebrate their achievement alongside the other students in their cohort. Guest speakers are invited, who give speeches on empowerment and leadership to inspire the students.
